Big Canoe Serves exists to promote volunteer service from Big Canoe residents in order to serve our local communities. We need volunteers to manage our website and to interface with sponsors of local events.
The mission of There's Hope for the Hungry is to increase disciples of Jesus Christ and decrease food insecurities throughout North Georgia. There's Hope for the Hungry serves throughout North Georgia by partnering with local churches to share the Gospel with everyone and provide boxes of groceries to those in need.
The CARES mission is to provide food and essential non-food items, temporary financial assistance, resource counseling and educational assistance to those in need residing in Pickens County, Georgia.
The Big Canoe Wellness Collaborative offers unique programs, providing meals, rides, visits to the homebound and respite for caregivers, grief and memory loss support, blood drives, flu & other vaccines, educational programs, and general information/referrals for various wellness related concerns.
The Big Canoe Trails Committee keeps trails in good condition, promotes trails on social media and local publications, inspects trails regularly and participates in work days to do major repairs or build new trails
The Pickens County Habitat for Humanity chapter has the mission to mobilize volunteers from churches, businesses, organizations, and households from our community to form a cohesive coalition to fund and build simple, decent affordable housing in partnership with God and God's people in need.
The purpose of the Big Canoe Chapel Women’s Fellowship is to bring together ALL women of the Big Canoe community, to encourage Christian fellowship, to understand God’s will for our lives through Bible study and to promote activities to benefit the Chapel and our surrounding areas. You do NOT have to be a member of the Chapel to participate in Women’s Fellowship.

Our group exists to assist residents in removing bulk trash from cars and expedite the flow of traffic during quarterly Bulk Trash Days sponsored by the POA. Confirm which items are appropriate for bulk trash. Educate residents on proper recycling and locations for getting rid of items. Please contact the POA if you have interest.
The Pregnancy Center supports women who find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy or women who need support throughout their pregnancy. We also offer free and confidential counseling to women, men and families. We are a faith-based ministry and love to share the hope of the Gospel with our clients. We provide practical help and spiritual hope. We offer post abortion recovery as well.

The Georgia Mountain Food Bank addresses hunger, health and quality of life by serving those in need.
Ruth House Ministries is a Christ-centered, long term, residential recovery program for women addicted to or abusing drugs or alcohol. Our program provides a platform for the regeneration of substance abusers and their families.

The Big Canoe Cub Scouts den is an active program for children (both boys and girls) in kindergarten through fifth grade and their families that encourages learning, friendship—and most of all—getting out and having fun!
The Community Thrift Store provides help to over 20 Charitable Organizations throughout Pickens County. We also provide clothes to the disadvantaged at no cost. We utilize an all volunteer work crew where even upper management work pro bono. In the last 20 years we have provided over 9 million dollars in aid.
Th Big Canoe Volunteer Firefighters work closely with the Big Canoe Public Safety Department to assist with Structure and Wildland Fires, Medical Calls, Traffic Accidents, Storm related needs, Search and Rescue, Traffic Control and many other Public Safety supported needs.
Big Canoe Scouts BSA is a year-round program for youth who are 11 years old through 17 years old, that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility to help them become the best version of themselves. Open to young women as well as young men, all of whom will have the chance to earn Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.
