The Academy at Double H Ranch
Our mission is to provide a safe and Christ-like environment for low income, at-risk children. Our K - 12 children obtain a Christian based education, along with life skills training. Our mission is for each student to have a faith based foundation to carry them through life, along with encouraging them to attend college and/or ultimately breaking the bonds of poverty, becoming a successful citizens in our community.
The Academy has a wonderful program where low income at-risk students in Pickens County are able to enroll in classes at the Academy to make sure they don't fall behind in school (or to enable them to catch up). The students are also taught life skills.
We are looking for volunteers to help in the classroom as tutors/teachers' assistants. Our academic days are Monday - Thursday from 8:20am - 3:30pm. Teaching credentials are great, but not necessary. Just a love to help out and work with the kids is what we need. Our students are self paced, and tutors/teachers' assistants typically help out by answering student questions, reading with students, administering simple spelling tests, or scoring tests with answer keys.
